Head of Department: Outsourced Accounting
Job Description
Are you an experienced accounting leader with strong technical expertise and proven team management capabilities? Our clients are seeking a dynamic Head of Department: Outsourced Accounting to lead their accounting team and oversee client service delivery.
The primary goal of this position is to manage and mentor accounting staff, review monthly management accounts and annual financial statements, and build strong client relationships through commercial insight and quality reporting. If you possess at least 3 years of post-article experience, advanced proficiency in Xero, QuickBooks, and Pastel Partner, and excel in direct partner reporting, this is the perfect opportunity for you.
Requirements:
• Education & Professional Designation: SAICA articles completed with a minimum of 3 years’ post-article experience in financial reporting. A CA(SA) designation is highly advantageous (though not essential).
• Technical Software Skills: Solid practical skills in Pastel Partner, QuickBooks, and Xero are essential. Experience with add-on reporting, workflow, or practice management tools is beneficial.
• Operational & Team Leadership: Proven experience supervising, reviewing, and coaching accounting staff, with demonstrated ability to manage deadlines and client portfolios.
• Client & Financial Oversight: Strong expertise in reviewing management accounts and annual financial statements, handling client queries, assisting with financing packs, and monitoring provisional tax position/profitability.
• Travel & Mobility: Willingness and ability to travel locally and occasionally to other provinces for client engagements.
• Core Competencies: Detail-orientated, commercially minded, highly organized, with exceptional client-facing and communication abilities.
