Our client is seeking a detail-oriented, high-performing Tax Consultant to join their specialized Tax Department. Reporting directly to the Tax Manager, this role acts as a vital liaison between the firm, Partners, and SARS on complex tax queries spanning Income Tax, VAT, and PAYE. The ideal candidate will combine strong dispute resolution capabilities (objections and appeals) with technical tax interpretation and hands-on SARS operational expertise. Requirements:
• Education & Qualification: Matric plus a completed relevant tax-related degree or diploma.
• Experience: Minimum 5 years of solid experience in a dedicated tax consulting role.
• Professional Registration: Registered Tax Practitioner or eligible for immediate registration.
• SARS Dispute Resolution & Objections: Proven expertise in preparing, submitting, and tracking objections/appeals with SARS from end-to-end in direct consultation with Partners.
• SARS Operational & Liaison Expertise: In-depth knowledge of SARS processes (in-branch and external), tax clearances, registrations, and handling verifications across Income Tax, VAT, and PAYE (must be willing to visit SARS branches when required).
• Systems & Software Proficiency: Advanced proficiency in SARS eFiling and GreatSoft processing/logging essential.
• Technical Tax & Legislative Interpretation: Up-to-date knowledge of tax rules and legislation, with the ability to interpret complex tax matters for client benefit.
• Communication & Partner Liaison: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; adept at serving as a Partner liaison and providing regular monthly reporting.
• Personal Attributes: Methodical planner, detail-oriented, self-motivated team player who works exceptionally well under SARS pressure.
