Junior Credit Analyst (Fintech / SME Lending)

Our clients are seeking an analytical, tech-savvy Junior Credit Analyst to join a high-growth, technology-driven South African fintech platform specializing in SME business finance. Working closely with the senior credit and risk team, this role is responsible for evaluating financial health, processing online business loan applications, analysing complex financial datasets, and identifying potential fraud indicators. You will interpret balance sheets and income statements, perform data-driven credit assessments, and collaborate with engineering teams to enhance automated account management and credit decisioning processes. If you possess 1 to 2 years’ experience in business credit analysis, management consulting, or accounting/audit, backed by advanced Excel skills and a passion for supporting small-and-medium enterprises, this position offers an exceptional career trajectory within fintech.

Requirements:
• Education: Tertiary Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related quantitative field.
• Relevant Experience: 1 to 2 years’ professional experience in SME/business credit analysis, management consulting, or accounting/audit (SAICA / SAIPA / CIMA track).
• Financial Analysis: Proven capability to analyse, interpret, and evaluate corporate income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow dynamics.
• Advanced Systems & Excel: Deep proficiency in MS Excel (including advanced formulas, VLOOKUPs, INDEX/MATCH, pivot tables, IF statements, and scenario modeling) alongside CRM and analytical platforms.
• Risk & Fraud Detection: High attention to detail with demonstrated ability to identify unusual transaction trends, customer behaviour anomalies, and potential financial fraud.
• Process Improvement & Business Acumen: Strong business acumen to conduct detailed financial discussions with business owners, combined with an aptitude for refining operational workflows.
