Accountant

Job Description

A well-established SME finance organisation is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Accountant to join their Finance Department. The business focuses on funding and supporting established SMEs, playing a meaningful role in driving inclusive economic growth in South Africa.
Requirements:
• BCom degree with Accounting as a major and Finance as a subject (CA(SA) not suitable for this role)
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in an accounting or bookkeeping role
• Strong understanding of loan calculations, amortisations, NPV, and lease accounting (or solid conceptual knowledge)
• Experience with journals, VAT calculations and reconciliations, balance sheet reconciliations, and intercompany loan accounts
• Cash flow management and daily bank reconciliations experience
• Exposure to debit orders, customer allocations, loan reconciliations, and resolving unpaid obligations
• Audit support experience (preparing audit packs and liaising with auditors)
• Strong Excel skills (above average)
• Experience with Microsoft 365, Xero, Microsoft Teams, and online banking platforms advantageous
• Analytical, meticulous, organised, and detail-oriented
